Psychoeducational Assessment
WISC-V, WIAT-III and Vineland-II
If you have had questions about how your child learns best, this assessment is a meaningful first step toward answers you can act on. Our psychoeducational assessments are professionally administered, delivered quickly, and come with practical recommendations for school and home.
What Is a Psychoeducational Assessment?
Our psychoeducational assessment, using the WISC-V and WIAT-III, offers genuine insight into how your child thinks, learns, and performs academically. It identifies cognitive strengths, pinpoints areas where they may be struggling, and shows whether their academic performance reflects their potential. For many families, it's the clarity they've been looking for, replacing uncertainty with a real understanding of their child's learning profile, along with practical recommendations for school and home.
WISC-V (Cognitive / Intelligence)
The WISC-V assesses 5 key cognitive domains that combine into a Full Scale IQ score:
- Verbal Comprehension: Reasoning and expression using words and language.
- Visual Spatial: Understanding and working with visual-spatial information.
- Fluid Reasoning: Problem-solving with new, non-verbal information.
- Working Memory: Holding and manipulating information in mind.
- Processing Speed: Speed and accuracy in completing simple tasks.
WIAT-III (Academic Achievement)
The WIAT-III assesses 4 main areas of academic performance:
- Reading: Including word reading, decoding, reading comprehension, and reading fluency.
- Written Expression: Including spelling, sentence writing, and essay composition.
- Mathematics: Including math problem solving, numerical operations, and math fluency.
- Oral Language: Including listening comprehension and oral expression.
Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales (Daily Living and Adaptive Skills)
The Vineland assesses how a child uses their skills in everyday life, rather than how they perform during a formal assessment. It is completed through information provided by parents or teachers and helps us understand their level of independence and how they function at home, at school, and in social situations.
- Communication: How a child understands language, expresses their needs and ideas, and uses communication in everyday situations.
- Daily Living Skills: Personal care, independence, following routines, and managing age-appropriate everyday tasks.
- Socialization: Interacting with others, building relationships, understanding social situations, and coping with emotions.
- Motor Skills: Fine and gross motor abilities, where age-appropriate.
ADHD Evaluation
When suspected, an ADHD scale is added to the assessment to confirm or rule out ADHD.
